Refund Policy
Effective from 22 August 2026. Applies to students.katlegofinance.co.za and professionals.katlegofinance.co.za
1. Our Approach
Every paid Module offers a free preview before you pay, so you can try the first part of a scenario before deciding to buy. Because of that free preview, our approach to refunds is straightforward: if you have not yet started the content you paid for, you can get a full refund within 7 days. Once you have started it, the refund window closes, in line with South African law described below.
2. Your 7-Day Cooling-Off Right
Under section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 (ECTA), you are entitled to cancel a purchase without reason and without penalty within 7 days of the date of purchase, provided the service has not yet begun with your consent.
3. When the Cooling-Off Right No Longer Applies
ECTA specifically allows this cooling-off right to lapse once a service has begun with the consumer's consent. On our Platforms, that means:
- if you purchase a Module and do not open or start it, you can request a full refund within 7 days of purchase;
- once you begin engaging with the paid content of a Module, beyond the free preview you had access to before payment, the 7-day cooling-off right no longer applies to that purchase, because the service has begun with your consent.
Your Statutory Rights Are Always Separate From This
None of the above affects your right to a refund, repair, or replacement where a Module fails to work as described due to a fault on our side, such as a technical failure that prevents you from accessing content you paid for. That right cannot be limited by this policy and applies regardless of how much of a Module you have used.
4. Free Preview
The free preview shown before you purchase any Module is not a paid service and is not covered by this Refund Policy, since no payment has been made at that stage.
5. Bundles
A Bundle is treated as a single purchase. If none of the Modules included in a Bundle have been started, the full Bundle price can be refunded within 7 days. Once any one Module within the Bundle has been started, the cooling-off right lapses for the Bundle as a whole, in line with Section 3 above.
6. Free Entry Module Re-Attempts and Reactivation Fees
The small fee charged for an additional attempt at the free entry Module, or for reactivating replay access to a Module after the 12-month period described in our Terms and Conditions, grants immediate access at the moment of payment. These fees are generally not refundable once that access has been granted, except where a technical fault prevented you from actually using it, in line with Section 3.
7. Faulty or Undelivered Service
If a Module, Take-Home Tool, or Certificate fails to work as described because of a fault on our side, contact us and we will investigate promptly. Where we confirm a fault, we will offer a fix, a replacement, or a refund, at your choice, consistent with your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
8. Institutional Licensing
Purchases made under an institutional licensing agreement, such as a bulk seat purchase by a school, university, or employer, are governed by the cancellation and refund terms of that specific agreement, not by this Refund Policy.
9. Guardian-Requested Refunds
Where a purchase was made on a Katlego Students account belonging to a user under 18, the linked Guardian may request a refund on the same terms set out in this policy, in addition to the user themselves.
10. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, contact us at support@katlegofinance.co.za with the Account email address and the Module or Bundle purchased. We will confirm whether the purchase qualifies under this policy and let you know the outcome within a reasonable time.
11. How Refunds Are Paid
Approved refunds are paid back to the original payment method used for the purchase, generally within 7 to 14 business days, depending on our payment provider's processing times.
12. Your Statutory Rights Are Not Affected
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002, or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded by agreement.
